OUR MISSION: To EQUIP and EMPOWER needy families to LIVE healthy lives, MAXIMIZE available economic opportunities and be Christ-like TRANSFORMERS of society.
OUR VISION: Healthy Families Glorifying God
Why Are We Called Eden?
Eden is a reference to the Garden of Eden where God created the institute of marriage and family. At Eden Mission we believe that families are important to God. God never intended us to live individualistic lives. He meant for us to live and grow and be a part of a family. As a ministry, we believe that healthy families will bring light and hope to a hurting land. Our mission is to improve the lives of families so that they can in turn help other families like them.
Eden Mission is an Evangelical, Non-Denominational, Bible-based ministry. In short this is what we believe:
- We believe that the Holy Scripture is God's own word written by men as the Holy Spirit inspired them.
- We believe that there is but one God. Eternal, infinite, perfect and unchangeable.
- We believe the Lord Jesus Christ is God.
- We believe that the Holy Spirit is the active agent in our sanctification who seeks to produce His fruit in us.
- We believe that one is saved by the grace of God.
- We believe that Jesus who ascended to heaven will return.
- We believe in the resurrection of the saved and the lost.
- We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ and that all believers are members of His body.
- We believe that the ministry of evangelism is a responsibility of both the church and the each Christian.

The Bible doesn't call us to discuss or lament over human need and social injustice. God's Word calls us to action. "Be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves...a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing." (James 1:22-25)
We limit our opportunities to fulfill this scripture when we attempt to define who our neighbor is. Our neighbor is any person in need that God has placed on our heart. The needs of our neighbors can be large or small; in the eyes of God there is no difference. We see ourselves as one of God's resources to be used to fulfill the needs of His people and especially the needs of families. God's basic unit for subduing the earth is the family. He created the family beginning from the first man and woman and has cultivated and nurtured the family to be the foundation of His earthly Kingdom. Our purpose as a ministry is to cultivate the holistic empowerment of families to create fellowships of believers to go and work alongside their God to free other families from spiritual and economic bondage. Eden Mission plans to fulfill this work as we are pressed into service to our LORD to benefit the wellbeing of our neighbors to the Glory of God.
We believe in being above reproach. Our integrity helps build trust with the people we work with. We build trust through our competence and convictions.
We do everything to the best of our abilities, knowing that we represent God through our actions and words.
We strongly believe that what we do is NOT for people, NOT to people, but rather WITH people. Our intent is to do everything we can in order to help our brothers and sisters lead God-glorifying, successful lives.
We believe that all people are of infinite value, regardless of age, race, development, appearance or ability.
We believe that it is important to have long-term strategies to help sustain Eden Mission. The more we can create sustainable financial programs, the more we can grow Eden Mission in more communities. Our sustainability plan includes various strategies including:
EDEN MISSION GUEST HOUSE
Local people and Mission teams have an opportunity to stay in a cost effective, safe and clean environment while supporting God's work. We have a house in Bunia, Congo and plan to do the same in every location Eden Mission has a center.
The soil in Congo and its neighboring countries is very fertile and good for many types of agriculture. Eden Mission believes in teaching communities cooperatively, using modern, but simple methods. Our teaching model involves shared labor and fruit to produce a harvest that sustains the families and the ministry.
Congo possesses significant amounts of under-utilized land that could be used for keeping animals and cultivating crops to feed them. Yet, Congo has a population of around 70 million people and most of them are under-nourished. Using a similar model as our agriculture program, Eden Mission teaches animal husbandry in the vocational program.
Kenneth Rwego was born in Southwestern Uganda near the border of Uganda, Rwanda and Congo. As a child he enjoyed crossing the border into Congo to visit his friends. It was during those visits that Kenneth saw first hand the disturbing images of human suffering and broken families. In 1997, Kenneth accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. It was then that he began to feel a strong conviction to share the message of Faith, Hope and Love with the people of Congo.
Kenneth's first trip to Congo as a believer was in 1998 during his 1st year of college. Since then, he has travelled to Congo at least once each year to share the Gospel with the people there. Over the years, God has continued to clarify Kenneth and his wife, Abigail's call to go into full-time missionary ministry in Congo through the founding of Eden Mission. With a focus on family, the Rwego Family trusts that Eden Mission will help families find joy, peace and a more fruitful and fulfilling life through Christ Jesus.
As of 2015 Kenneth and his family are living in Congo to continue and expand the work of Eden Mission.
